Blue card for skilled immigrants

The European Commission has presented the proposal to create a "blue card" to facilitate access employment in member countries to skilled immigrants.

To apply for this card as well as the necessary qualifications, the employee must have a contract prior work and a salary which is at least three times the minimum wage of the country where it claims to exercise work.

Efforts will be made to a permit for two years, after which the immigrant can apply for an extension of a further two years, subject to continuing employment contract. After five days he was granted a residence permit long-term.

The reason for this proposal is to encourage the arrival of skilled immigrants, which normally go to other countries like the USA. It is a means to meet the high demand in Europe for professionals in certain sectors such as health.
