Climate change

Climate change and global warming are the terms with which it has been referring to all possible consequences to the climate and life on earth may have the wrong use of it is being done.

This topic has become a major global concerns and citizens around the world are starting to take an interest in the consequences of change and ways to prevent it from happening.

Causes of climate change

Most of the causes of climate change are due to the hand of man. They are all those who are related to the disruption of normal functioning of the earth.

Overall stemming from misuse and uncontrolled ways that nature gives us. In addition to deforestation and pollution, other causes of climate change are:

·  Society consumption: in the developed countries is an abuse of natural resources and energy consumption has risen in excess.

·  Poor drinking water, it has been a very little care and each day it becomes more scarce.

The lack of awareness of the Western governments that have not established the necessary laws to prevent deterioration of Environment.

Deforestation

It is called as part of the process of disappearance of forests due to massive felling of trees and the fire. This decrease in green areas contributes to the accumulation of carbon dioxide.

The trees and plants do a process called photosynthesis, which absorb carbon dioxide and return transformed into oxygen.

Contamination

This term is used to refer to all components outside the air, land or sea that nevertheless are present in them and contribute to a deterioration of the living beings that inhabit.

For example, the domestic sewage, and industrial waste dumped in the sea have polluted this environment to the extent that some species are extinct.

Greenhouse Effect

The role of the greenhouse effect by the atmosphere is necessary, because if we do not retain the heat of the sun on Earth, temperatures would be too low for the existence of life.

El The problem comes because the man given by issuing too many gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide has increased the capacity of the atmosphere to retain heat.

Implications of the greenhouse effect

The main consequence of this disorder is rising temperatures, which could lead to melting of the polar ice caps, and hence the rise in sea levels. This suggests that some coastal lands would be submerged under water.

Other phenomena that are believed lead this process are drought, the increased presence of extreme weather events such as torrential rains and rising temperatures in parts of the earth.

Acid Rain

Acid rain is another consequence of the excessive pollution. It is because of the burning oil or coal, for example, the issue is causing some gases to the atmosphere that mixed with the existing ones produce acids such as sulfuric and nitric.

In principle, these acids that are mixed with rain do not cause direct harm to people, but if they do in many plant species.

The ozone layer

In addition to the gases that produce greenhouse effect, there are other so-called chlorofluorocarbons that seriously damage the ozone layer.

It's called hole in the ozone layer to a decrease in the density of this gas on the layer that covers Antarctica. It has been observed that this phenomenon occurs every spring, roughly from mid-August until December.

The problem is that the function of this gas composed of three atoms of oxygen, is to prevent the passage of ultraviolet rays from the sun to us for being harmful to health. By reducing its presence, these rays pass through the atmosphere more easily.

This gas is produced by certain types of aerosols and refrigerators and freezers. But thanks to the policy measures taken, their production has fallen more than 80% since the signing of the Montreal Protocol in 1987. The problem is that in industries is increasing yearly production of substances harmful to the ozone.

Consequences of climate change

There is talk of a rise in temperatures, which could make life too suffocating in some places on Earth. This increase in the heat would cause the melting of glaciers and poles, and the consequent rise in sea level.

These changes in climate coupled with the drought experienced by some areas and would increase that could provoke massive emigrations and high concentrations of population in some places.

The disappearance of animal and plant species could be produced in addition to fishing and hunting mass by the change in the living conditions of their ecosystems of which may not be adapted.

Nevertheless, the consequences are unpredictable as it is to know what climatic changes that will occur and that will manifest themselves.
