A computer is an
electronic machine capable of processing information following the instructions
in a program. Initially, manipulated information through hydraulic machines.
At present, the term personal
computer is known to workstations and laptops. Before the arrival of the
latter, the term is used exclusively for PCs.
Types
· The workstations
(PCs) are characterized by its membership into three parts: the CPU, which is a
box where they are the major components that make operating the PC,
monitor or screen and the keyboard.
There are several
models depending on the placement and size of the CPU:
- Desktop:
is a tower to lay flat on top of a table.
- Minitorre:
has some approximate dimensions of 35 cm. high, 13 cm. in width and
39 cm. background.
- Semitorre:
its dimensions are approximately 43 cm. high 18 cm. in width and 44 cm.
background.
- Torre:
measured 60 cm. high, 26 cm. in width and 54 cm. some background.
· The portable
computers are one piece in which screen, keyboard and CPU are united. They have
small dimensions, more or less the size of a folder. Its components have to be
introduced within the casing or attached externally via the USB port.
Other types
The barebones
computers are sold only with the basic components such as the motherboard,
power supply and the box.
They have a size reducidísimas but also
are sold to larger structures. From this structure, the buyer can go by adding
components such as RAM or a hard drive.
