Downloading music - Introduction

A download is a process through which individual files are transferred from a website or an information server to a computer.

 

The number of music downloads on the Web has increased significantly in recent years. For its part, the sales of recorded music in support CD or DVD and digital download through which payment has fallen about 10% over the year 2006.

 

Furthermore, the mode of free download is the most in demand among Internet users, reaching to grab all the downloads on the Internet.

 

Types download

 

The most defendant downloading music are file transfer programs. Also known as P2P (person to person).

 

This is direct communication between two clients over the Internet. The files are downloaded from the hard disk of a user, provided he gives the go-ahead, through a program. Some of the best known are, for example, emule or ares.

 

There is another possibility for downloading through websites on which it is paid a small amount of money in order to obtain certain files.

 

It allows downloading from a single song for a price close to € 1, until download the album from an artist determined. It could pay only for listening songs.

 

At these sites there are several ways to pay. The most prominent are the payment through cards, whether credit or debit, and through SMS from the mobile.

 

Download P2P

 

The first thing the user must do to be able to download music through file transfer is done with one of the P2P programs. Then you have to install.

 

Once that is done, the steps to be followed are as follows:

 

·  Enter the username.

 

·  Setting the agenda with the priorities of download and upload, which are songs that other users can download.

 

·  Choose the folder where you are going to store downloaded files.

 

·  Connect program to a list of servers if necessary.

 

·  Find and select the song you want to download.

 

Music formats

 

The most common formats in downloading music are:

 

·  MP3: compression format files with digital quality. It has won wide popularity in a very short time. It is the most widely used on the Internet.

·  WMA: audio compression format owned by Microsoft. The files are usually smaller than those of MP3.

 

·  WAV: uncompressed audio format. They can be read by a computer as for a conventional CD player.

 

Storage process

 

Once downloaded music, it can be stored in two ways:

 

  • CD: elected files are stored in these units storage through a specialized program. There are two ways of carving:

 

- Format music: is not it is compressed and can be heard in any player.

 

- Data format: it is compressed, so that the capacity is higher, but can only be read with special equipment.

 

  • MP3 or MP4: music passes directly from the folder where the files are stored after unloading until the player.

Legislation in Spain

 

Like downloading movies on the Internet, the music is also a lawsuit if it meets the Organic Law 15/2003 of 25 November, amending the Organic Law 10/1995 of 23 November, Penal Code.

 

In its article 270 points as a crime reproduction, plagiarism or public distribution of books, music or films for profit. He also believes an action punishable export or store this material and create ways to save their protection.

 

Under this law, the fact of downloading music for personal use and enjoyment offense is not always that this action does not seek to get financial compensation.

 

Remarks

 

Another way to listen to music through Internet are online radio. These are conventional radios that operate from their own web sites without having to download any software to your computer.. This practice is known as streaming.
