These are animals whose species is on the brink of extinction due to
changes in the ecosystem or human activity in the wild life.
This last factor is the one that
has accelerated the process of extinction of species. To curb this, being
conducted studies in order to improve the habitat of these animals and
awareness campaigns.
Grounds for termination
Some of the leading causes of
the disappearance of the animals are as follows:
· Disruption
of habitat: the destruction of loopholes, logging, large urban growth.
· Environmental
pollution.
· The poaching.
· Introduction of
exotic animals that end with native species.
· Traffic species
and portions thereof.
· Beside these
causes man are also natural disasters such as fire, drought or floods.
Agencies
and laws for nature
There are several organizations
and laws that seek the conservation and protection of endangered species. Among
them:
· International
Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN): founded in 1948, is
responsible for drawing up a list in which they appear species in danger of
disappearing. He also presented the degree of extinction of each.
· Convention
on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was established in 1948 and is one of the
largest signed agreement for the protection of species. They control trade
in animals and plants, looking for legality.
· Greenpeace: it is an
international NGO founded in 1971 whose main aim is to protect nature and achieve
world peace. To achieve it conducts campaigns worldwide.
