It is called and the whole bodies
secrete hormones. These glands composed of cells capable of producing
different kinds of hormones.
This system is not located in
a specific area of the human body. The pituitary gland, for example, is found
in the brain and pancreas, which also produces hormones, is located in the
abdominal area.
The cells communicate with
each other through this hormonal system that takes orders from each other.
The functioning of the endocrine system has implications throughout the body.
Endocrine
Glands
They are not presenting
themselves as conduits that substances that produce the cells go
directly into the bloodstream. So hormones pass directly into the blood,
through which reach the organ or tissue on which they act.
The endocrine glands and main
hormones produced each are as follows:
· Hypothalamic or pineal
gland located in the diencéfalo produces hormones such as antidiuretic
hormone.
· Pituitary gland or pituitary
gland: lies in the brain and produces hormones such as oxytocin, the
hormone prolactin or luteizante.
· Thyroid gland or thyroid:
is located in the upper torso between two vertebrae. The most important thing
is thyroid hormone thyroxine.
· Adrenal Glands: they are two and
are located in the area of the kidneys. They produce steroid hormones such as
aldosterone and androgens like testosterone.
· Pancreas: is located in the
abdominal area. The hormone is more important that secretes insulin.
· Parathyroid
Glands: are mint and produce thyroid hormones paratiroideas.
· Gonads: the ovaries are
female and produce some hormones called estrogen. The testes are the male
gonads and produce a group of hormones that are called androgens.
