European festivals

In every country is celebrated to commemorate certain events religious, political or cultural. Each is holding its history and the features that make it a center of attraction for tourists. In the case of Europe there are many prominent festivities.

 

Beer Festival

 

·  Location: Munich, Germany.

 

·  Date: celebrated in the month of October.

 

·  History: Beer Festival Munich, also known dome Oktoberfest, has its origins on Oct. 12, 1810, when Prince Ludwig organized a big party on the occasion of his wedding. The party was so great that many held the following year forgetting the reason of it. Since then, every October repeats the celebration, with beer as the main protagonist.

The main festival is held in Park Brewer, which is chaired by an enclosure open stage. The whole place is filled with wooden tables and put food on which it is roasted sausages and frankfurt costillares pork. Beer is the common element to all visitors.

 

In the compound, are performed all kinds of activities related to the drink, such as contests between waitresses whose aim is to check who is able to serve more pitchers of beer at the same time.

 

San Patricio

 

·  Place: Ireland.

 

·  Date: March 17.

 

·  History: This festival is celebrated on the occasion of the day of the patron saint of Ireland and English as San cone Patrick's Day. Until 1903 the holding was purely religious. Since then, the celebrations were paving the way in 1931 until the first parade was held.

 

In mid-1990, the Irish government began using the festival as a means of advertising for Ireland and its culture. Since then, Green has become the country's international image.

 

·  Observances: it is a celebration marked by icons. Throughout the day Ireland dresses in green. The towns, people, rivers and drinks stained green.

 

The shamrocks, clubs symbolizing luck and that St. Patrick used to explain the mystery of the Holy Trinity, they are also a symbol of this day. AIn addition, any party held in Ireland, beer is the drink for excellence in the day of St. Patrick.

 

Queen's Day

 

·  Venue: Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

 

·  Date: April 30.

 

·  Story: This holiday surge in the year 1949 with the celebration of the birthday of Queen Juliana. At that time April 30 was a day that held parades and commemorative events in honor of the Queen.

 

As of April 30, 1980, when the current Queen Beatrix ascends to the throne, the feast is popular leading to the grand celebration it is today. This day has become the official birthday of Queen Orange. In the Netherlands is known as Koninginnedag.

 

·  Celebration: April 30 each Amsterdam dresses in orange to mark the Queen's official birthday. The streets are filled with people with a pint in his hand to celebrate their national day. It is the biggest festival in Holland.

 

Battle of oranges carnival of Ivrea

 

·  Place: Ivrea, Italy.

 

·  Date: a few days before Lent.

 

·  Story: the battle commemorates an affront to the villain of the thirteenth century whose regime ended when the "beautiful Violetta" cut his head when he claimed his right to spend with his wedding night. En In Italian this festival is known as Battaglia delle Arance of Carnevale di Ivrea.

 

·  Celebration: Today the battle against villain of the thirteenth century is represented through a real war of oranges. Hundreds of Italians dress in medieval costumes to join in this particular battle. More than 360 tons of oranges are dumped each year on this date.

 

Independence Day or the French Bastille Day

 

·  Location: Paris, France.

 

·  Date: July 14.

 

·  History: The festival commemorates the day of the Taking of the Bastille, when it proclaimed its independence from France. Previously, the day was based on celebrations commemorating the French homeland. Started with a military parade and clausuraban with dancing and fireworks. Also known as Fête de la Fédératión.

 

·  Observances: at present retains the traditional character of the day. The military parade on the Champs Elysees remains the central event of the celebration of Independence.
