Pregnancy is a delicate time for both the mother and the fetus to why visits to the specialist is essential. The medical specialty that deals with the development of pregnancy within gynecology is obstetrics.

·  Amniocentesis: consists of an abdominal puncture through which amniotic fluid is extracted for later analysis. Conducting this test involves, among others, the risk of abortion. It serves, for example, to determine if the fetus will develop the Down Syndrome.

 

·  O`Sullivan test is used to detect gestational diabetes. This is a type of diabetes that arose for the first time during pregnancy and then can return to disappear. Usually performed at the end of the second quarter.

 

Tests in the last weeks of pregnancy

 

The visits to the specialist occur almost on a weekly basis in the third trimester of pregnancy. As with any pregnancy tests such as ultrasound to monitor the normal process and analysis to monitor the health of the mother.

 

As we approach the moment of birth is checking the status of the placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid to act in the event of any significant abnormality.
