First release of turtles nest in Spain

The beaches of the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata in the province of Almeria have received some new residents. These 10 Loggerhead sea turtles with 1 year of age from Cape Verde in Africa.

 

The release of these copies have been carried out by the Supreme Council of Investigacioes Científicas (CSIC) and the Junta de Andalucía to reintegrate this reptile in the Andalusian coast.

 

Eggs from the Republic of Cape Verde are reared in Biological Station of the Doñana National Park in semi before their first birthday, when they are released.

 

Such action is the first to take place in Spain. So successive will releasing copies of this type of turtle in the Andalusian coast.
