Flying with pets

During vacations are increasingly people who want to fly alongside their pets instead of leaving them abandoned or accommodate specialized nurseries.

 

This is why the vast majority of airlines have a number of mandatory requirements that the owner of the pet must meet before and during the flight.

 

Place travel

 

Depending on the weight and size of the animal shall be for a different location during the journey. The pets can travel in:

 

·  Cabin: if not exceeding 6 kg including the container. This should have a maximum size of 45 x 35 x 25 cm but might vary according to the company.

 

·  Bodega: this place will travel animals having no heavier than 45 kg including the container.

 

·  Other: animals weighing more than 45 kg may travel in a special plane different from its owner.

 

Requirements

 

The requirements pets are as follows:

 

·  To the availability of companies to carry pets.

 

·  Warn in advance that is going to carry a pet during the flight.

 

·  Have a microchip ID, or failing, a tattoo.

 

·  Presenting the health card.

 

·  Present veterinary documentation.

 

·  Present a certificate of good health issued by the veterinarian. There must be signed at the latest 10 days before the takeoff.

 

·  The mascot will be more than eight weeks.

 

·  Transport the animal in a cage or container. The latter can be purchased at the desk and must have some measures and some special security closures.

 

To travel in the cabin

 

When the animal travel in the cabin of the aircraft owner must meet the following standards:

 

·  The animal must be in a container that can not move and located either on the knees of his master or under the seat. 

 

·  Passengers traveling with animals can not sit in the seats near emergency exits.

 

·  There can never be more than two pets in the cabin.

 

·  The containers can carry only one animal, except if they are of a small size such as birds, hamsters and guinea pigs. They can then share the same cage.

 

·  The container must be identified with a sticker that warns about the presence of a live animal.

 

Worth noting

 

When you embark on a trip air with a pet should take into account the temperature of the plane during flight. For example, some companies are still traveling to animals if they consider that the high temperature may cause damage.

 

The price of passage for pets varies from a few other companies but it is always depending on the weight of the whole animal and its container. They are accepted as baggage, but must pay the appropriate fee.

 

When the animal is required to travel in the aircraft hold, the owner has to surrender, with at least three hours in advance to the cargo terminal.

 

Remarks

 

Despite the weight restrictions for the transportation of animals in the cabin of the plane there are exceptions when it comes to a guide dog.

 

This type of animal has the peculiarity that often do not pay the ticket. Moreover must not making any formalities provided they are equipped with a collar, leash and muzzle.
