Grants - Introduction (Spain)

A grant is an economic aid granted to a government agency for conducting any activity of general interest or public utility.

 

To be the recipient of a grant is necessary to fulfill the requirements set forth in the notice. If it is ultimately receives the grant, the recipient must maintain the conditions for which they were awarded the grant, while it remains in force.

 

General Law Grants State (Law 38/2003)

 

This law provides that a subsidy is any provision economic granted by the State Administration, the Autonomous Communities and Local natural or legal persons. It must meet certain requirements under the same law as:

 

·  The agency providing should not receive any direct compensation.

 

·  It has to be aimed at the realization of a project with public purpose or goal.

 

This document establishes obligations of beneficiaries among which are the following:

 

·  Meeting the goal for which he was awarded the grant.

 

·  Justifying to the competent authority compliance with the requirements.

 

·  Communicate if it receives grants or other aid.

 

Call for subsidies

 

The grants are published in the official gazette or in regional or local newsletters. They can occur announced in the press.

Organs subsidies

Objectives of subsidies

·  To facilitate their incorporation into the SME (small and medium enterprises) to the information society and to new technologies.

 

·  Encouraging business creation and maintenance of the autonomous activity.

 

·  Enhance companies in the research, development and innovation (RDI).

 

Grants to groups

 

Some subsidies are directed at specific segments of the population that have certain circumstances harder joining the labor market:

 

·  A youth: to facilitate their entry into the labor market either as self-employed and in private enterprise.

 

·  For people over 45: in order to overcome the difficulties that have to be hired.

 

·  For women: because of the extensive unemployment rates that supports this sector.

 

·  For people with disabilities: to facilitate their integration.

 

National plans help Highlights

 

·  Program for the Promotion of Technical Research (PROFIT) is a plan that serves the government to convene various aid for corporations and other entities in order to promote research, technological development and innovation.

 

·  Plan Launching the Promotion Outdoor (PIPE) is a plan that depends on the ICEX. Provides aid for SMEs so that they can start their journey outside Spain.
