Motorcycles - Introduction

The first motorcycle appeared in the early nineteenth century as a result of joining a bicycle and a car. It consisted of incorporating the structure of the bike of a gasoline engine.

 

In World War II the Germans began to use the bikes as light vehicles on patrol. After the end of the war the Soviets began to produce replicas of these motorbikes.

 

Motorcycles according to the cylinder

 

According to the cubic centimeter possessing motorcycles can be divided into:

 

·  Moped: not exceeding 50 cc.

 

·  Motorcycle their engine capacity not exceeding 125 cc.

 

·  Great cylinder: motorbikes which exceed the 125 cc.

 

Carnets necessary

 

Depending on the cubic capacity of motorcycles should be issued either type of driver's license:

 

·  Permit moped: serves to drive motorcycles cylinder capacity not exceeding 50 cc. The minimum age to expedirlo is 14 years.

 

To get enough to make a theoretical course of 8 hours in a driving authorized by the Head of Traffic, or make a theoretical examination at the General Directorate of Traffic.

 

·  Permits A1: You can drive motorcycles not exceeding an engine capacity of 125 cc. The minimum age to be able to issue this card is 16 years.

 

For passing a theory test, a specific and practical one in a circuit or be in possession of the card B (cars) for three years.

 

·  Permit A: You can drive motorbikes cylinder capacity exceeding 125 cc, but drivers with less than two years' experience with motorcycles can not move more than 250 cc.

 

To get it you must be of legal age and pass two tests theory, a practice circuit and another on the road. If you have a card A1 from two years ago, simply must overcome the practical test road.

 

On the other hand if it is in possession is a card from B over two years ago, should spend the test specific theoretical and practical test ramp.

 

Insurance

 

At present, there are few insurance companies that offer policies for motorcycles and mopeds. They also tend to offer only liability insurance to others.

 

Within the same Autonomous Region the price of insurance vary up to four times as much as the company that hires, despite offering the same coverage. Today, the average in Spain policies liability to third parties for motorbikes around € 500.

 

Remarks

 

Sometimes motorcycles can spend two to three seats through the incorporation of a sidecar. This is a lateral compartment with a wheel attached to the side of the vehicle. These bikes can be driven with the permission A.

 

There is a very peculiar kind of motorbikes that are characterized by having three wheels instead of the conventional two. We call them motorized tricycles, but they are popularly known as trike.
