A pet can be a person,
an animal or a thing. The origin of this word is the French term
"mascotte" designating that thing that brings luck to a person. Generally,
with this name is known to pet animals.
From time immemorial men
realized that the animals were very beneficial, both for their contributions of
food, as the company did in the home.
In ancient Egypt cats were
seen immortal beings and are kept divine worship. Even, were buried in graves
beside their owners.
At present having pet is a
very common throughout the world, to the point that in most households there is
at least one.
Baby
Pets, like people, should
receive some care. These relate for example to hygiene, food, health and
shelter. Some of them are:
· Visit the
veterinarian to vaccinate and desparasitar the animal.
· Conducting
exercise either sacándolo a walk as in the case of the dog or by the game such
as the cat and hamster, for example.
· Take in proper
sanitary conditions. This means among other things, showering and fingernails
cut off frequently.
· Conduct periodic
reviews, for example teeth, mouth and ears.
· Brushing regularly
if it is an animal with long hair.
· Choosing either
the place where they live. In the event that needed cages or goldfish bowls
should be taken into account actions of the animal and how much the same. Thus,
they should be in a well-lit area and they do not agobie.
· Alimentarlos
regularly and properly with the natural food and feed.
These are general care. Each
of the pets have to turn some specific care. Because of this case should be consulted
with a veterinarian.
Legislation
Spain does not have a common
law for the protection of pets. Despite this there are different rules and laws
in each autonomous community who seek both to protect these animals as that of
those in captivity.
These laws penalize, for
example, experimentation, abuse and neglect of animals. Also forcing their
owners to register in the census provincial health and to take responsibility
for their actions.
The animals also have a Universal
Declaration of the Rights of Animals passed in 1978 and subsequently
ratified by the UN and UNESCO.
Act
aggressive animals
In regard to aggressive
animals, there is the Law 50/1999 of 23 December, on the legal
regime of tenure of potentially dangerous animals. Its main points are:
· Considers
dangerous animals belonging to the wildlife and used as pets that are capable
of causing death or serious injury to persons or damage to things.
· They must have an
administrative leave. To get it he must comply with the following requirements
- Being of legal
age.

Not have been convicted of the crime of drug trafficking, torture or injury,
for example.

Have a certificate of psychological fitness.

Accreditation of having contracted liability insurance.
· They have to be
registered and identified by their owners.
· It is strictly
forbidden to train animals addressed to enhance and strengthen their
aggressiveness.
· The animals must
have sanitary conditions favorable.
· Considered a
serious offense:
- Abandoning this
type of animal.
- Lack of license
and/or identification.
- The holding of
competitions or exercises to show its aggressiveness.
Dangerous Races
There is also a specific law
for dangerous dogs. This is the Royal Decree 287/2002 of 22 March by the
developing Law 50/1999 of 23 December.
The law considers the
dangerous dog breeds and crossbreeds following: Pit Bull Terrier,
Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler,
Doberman, Dogo Argentino, Mastín Napolitano, Fila Brasileiro, Tosa Ina and Ina
Akita.
He also believes those
dangerous dogs because of their size, physical, weight, complexion or force
likely to cause injury to persons. Also those with aggressive temperament.
Remarks
The choice of pets is
changing. The species most in demand historically have been the dog and the
cat, but now, and because the fashions have great success exotic animals.
