Planets of the Solar System

The Solar System is divided into eight planets which revolve around the sun and reflected its light for reflectarla, since they have no light of their own. They are ball crushed by the poles.

The planets below are those in the solar system except Earth. They are arranged according to their proximity to the Sun.

Mercury

It is the first planet in the solar system and one of the few, beside Venus who has no satellites. Have smaller than Earth but bigger than the moon. It is located approximately 91 million km. de la Tierra. On Earth.

It has the most eccentric orbit. Their rotation period is 58.7 days, which amounts to two thirds of her time travel that has a duration of 88 days.

Any information that is known about the surface of this planet is because the data collected by the probe Mariner planetary 10. One of the most important data is the possibility that there is frozen water.

On this planet, there was a very peculiar phenomenon known as the name of sunrises doubles. This is an action by the Sun sale, hides to go back out again.

Venus

It is the second closest planet to the Sun. Sometimes you can also appoint as brother of the planet Earth and having the same size and same mass. Its distance from Earth is about 41 million km.

Its orbit is the one that most resembles a circle. It is one of the few celestial bodies that can be seen both day and night. It is composed mainly of volcanic rock.

Have retrograde rotation, ie rotates from east to west instead of west to east which is the most common. Colloquially known as the Venus lucero dawn.

Mars

It is one of the planets that most closely resemble the Earth from which it separated about 78 million km. It is rocky in nature and this fact is part of the planets called telluric. It is also known as Red Planet.

This planet has some morphological characteristics closely resembling those of the Earth and the Moon to such as the existence of water. Because it is believed that there may have life in it.

There is a science that studies the surface of the planet Mars and that is called aerografía. Receive this name in honor of Ares, the Roman god of the earth.

Jupiter

It is the largest celestial body in the solar system after the sun has more area and the rest of planets together. It is the planet that offers greater brightness over the entire year. Its distance from Earth is about 629 million km.

It has a composition similar to that of the Sun, with an atmosphere so complex that has different colors. Holds rotation fastest of all the planets and the largest number of satellites known.

It has been visited several times by the missions of NASA since the mid-twentieth century. Both are currently being explored Jupiter and its moon called Europa.

Saturn

It is the second largest planet in the solar system and the only one that has a system of rings visible. The first to observe these ring was Galileo Galilei in the year 1610.

Has a distance around 1,300 million km. on Earth. It has a much lower density than water and its rings are formed by small narrow rings. Its atmosphere is composed of hydrogen, helium and methane.

Saturn rotates around the sun, action it takes to cover 29 years and 167 days. In contrast, the rotation period is 10 hours and 14 minutes.

This planet has 60 satellites. The most important of them is called Titan and is the only solar system that has a significant atmosphere.

Uranus

This is a planet that has an inclination of the axis of rotation of about 90 degrees. As happened with Venus, Uranus has a rotates backward. He separated by some 2,720 million km. on Earth.

It is the first planet discovered with a microscope without being known in antiquity. Its discoverer William Herschel was in the late eighteenth century.

Uranus is a planet that has recognized 27 natural satellites, all of them were designated with names from the works of William Shakespeare.

Neptune

It is a very cold planet just because you reach the sun's rays. Despite this it seems that keeps the heat because it uses a source of domestic energy. It has the strongest winds of any planet in the solar system. The Earth is 5,825 km. on this planet.

This structure is very similar to that of Uranus. This planet has been visited only once by any space mission. It took place in the'80s and the ship received the name of Voyager 2.

This ship was discovered that much of the satellites of Neptune. The biggest of them is called Triton and is the only satellite that revolves in the opposite direction to turn their planet.

Remarks

Pluto is a planet dwarf to be discovered in the year 1930. This category also possess Nix and Hydra which are two celestial bodies that are very close to Pluto.

The International Astronomical Union took its status as a planet Pluto in 2006 after having been for many years the subject of numerous discussions among astronomers.

It is the only planet that has not come to any space mission. In 2008 NASA is preparing the mission to Pluto Express which aims to reach dwarf planet before it will freeze its atmosphere.
