Process of adoption (Spain)

In Spain, a minor can only be adopted if:

·  It was abandoned.

·  We know his parentage

·  His parents gave pursuant to the adoption.

·  They lack parental authority or are in the process of losing it.

The process of national adoption is much longer and slower than the international level. You may reach last nine years in the national and international in two years.

The national adoption is cheaper than the international level. It is only necessary to disburse the economic contribution for the costs arising from the proceedings.

In order to carry out an adoption, the first thing to do is visit the social services office of the Autonomous Region in which they reside.

Which should be so slow that process

The slowness is due, among other things, there are fewer and fewer children likely to be adopted and more people who want to adopt. So the demand is much greater than the supply.

The supply of children is low because some are not likely to be adopted because they had a family and/or stay at the reception center is temporary. It was also due to who may need special care, which few people want to take care of them.

Demand for children in adoption is much higher because of the changed society. In this sense the relationship has great significance work/time.

So, there are people who devotes most of his time to work and delayed childbearing age, even infertility. Because of this prefer adoption.

Procedures

After filing the application for adoption, the child protection service began a study of psychosocial applicants called Value of Appropriateness. It is a prerequisite, but not guaranteed adoption.

This study conducted by a psychologist and a social worker on the psychological characteristics and socio-economic status of the adoptive parents is a prerequisite, but it is not something that comes to ensuring the adoption.

Subsequently, the Social Services presented to the investigating magistrate a file of the case prior proposal. This could avoid having to come forward and expedite the procedure if the child meets any of the following characteristics:

·  Being an orphan and a relative of the adoptive in third grade blood or affinity.
