Religious marriage (Spain)

It is one that takes place under the religion registered and recognized by the state. It was officiated by a representative of the church to which they belong bride and groom, such as Catholic, Jewish or Islamic.

 

Documentation

 

The documentation necessary to be able to hold a religious wedding is:

 

·  Departure from birth is a certified photocopy of the birth registration form. It was issued in the civil register.

 

·  Item of baptism: be requested at the church where he was baptized/a.

 

·  Certificate of singleness ecclesiastical: emerges if one of the bride and groom come from a diocese different from the ceremony or have resided abroad for more than a year.

 

·  Excusing: certificate is sought when there are impediments canons, for example, if the spouses come from a different religion.

 

·  Conducting the workshop in preparation for marriage: they address issues related to living with a partner.

 

·  Authorization of court if any of the bride and groom is lower. The minimum age for marriage is 14 years for women and 16 for men.

 

This documentation must be submitted on paper without seal and is valid for six months.

 

Process

 

First, the bride and groom should make an appointment with the pastor of the church where the link will take place in order to realize the date thereof.

 

Subsequently, the warnings are handled civilians. It is the public announcement of the link and aim to avoid marriages illegal or invalid.

 

These warnings are presented for three straight weeks on the notice board of the church relevant to prove impediments to the future marriage.

 

Three months before the wedding must take these documents to the church where the wedding will be held to solicit the record of marriage, through which credited spouses who meet the conditions set by the Catholic Church for the link.

 

This file can be obtained for the Communication of Marriage Canon Contraído which is a document signed by the end of the ceremony the bride and groom and two witnesses.

 

It should take five days prior to the Civil Registry to register the link. Then the bride and groom will receive the Book of Family.
