Recreational craft are, in
principle, all those that are used for recreational and sports activities but
not for commercial or passenger.
These vessels can be
propelled by paddles, sails and engine. In addition, the current Spanish
legislation specifies that the length of length must be between
2.5 meters and 24 meters and the number of passengers can not exceed 12.
Types of recreational craft
The types of recreational craft that
generally tend to distinguish within the limits stipulated by the law are:
· Yate: pleasure craft
larger motor. Puede además estar
propulsado por velas. They may also be propelled by sail.
· Boat: smaller craft
driven motor. They may also be propelled by sail or oars.
· Sailing: Light-driven
boats with sails. Its recreational use is very abundant especially in sports
competitions.
· Jackpot: small boat,
driven by oars. It is characterized by not having never part of a cab or deck.
· Powerboating: propelled boat
with a motor similar to a motorcycle.
· Catamaran: boat sailing or
helmets formed by two parties together. This term is also used to identify a
kind of Indian craft.
Degrees
The granting of the necessary
licenses for driving pleasure craft falls to the Department of
Merchant Shipping, dependent ultimately on the Ministry of Development, or,
failing that, to the autonomous communities to which they have been transferred
these powers.
The tests consist of
a review theoretical and the other practical. The latter can be replaced by
conducting practices.
Authorizations
granted by the federations
These permits are only valid
for crew boats less than 54 C.V. and that in no case exceed six meters in
length.
Navigation can only take
place during the day and within the areas bounded by the Maritime Captaincy.
Pattern
speedboat racing
The authorizations for the
conduct of such vessels differ depending on the power of each. The various
permits that exist are:
· C: less than 55 C.V.
· B: 55 to 110 C.V.
· A: power equal to or
greater than 110 C.V.
Skipper
basic navigation
This authorization is valid
for the crew of ships sailing with a length of no more than 8 meters or motor
with a length not exceeding six meters.
Moreover, they would not be
able to navigate beyond four miles away over a beach to which they can gain
access.
Patron of
recreational craft
This permit is valid for
driving vessels not exceeding 12 meters in length and not shy away more than 12
miles from the coast.
This certification also
authorizes to navigate in the Balearic and Canary islands.
Other qualifications
· Pattern yacht: valid for the
government to craft a length not exceeding 20 meters. Your navigation is
limited to 60-mile distance from the coast.
· Captain yacht: valid for driving
any kind of pleasure craft motor or sailing.
Worth noting
There are certain types of vessels
which do not require any authorization for its crew:
· Boats driven by an
engine of up to 10 C.V. and not exceeding four meters in length.
· Boats propelled by
sail whose length does not exceed 5 meters.
· Canoes, canoes,
motor skates whenever the power is less than 3.5 kW.
· Tables propel them
to sail or motor.
