UNESCO creates World Digital Library

UNESCO has presented its project to create a World Digital Library during the celebration of the General Conference in Paris, attended by all member countries.

 

It is intended to include in this library books, maps, sheet music and exceptional materials from all cultures and all countries. The project is conducted in conjunction with the Library of Congress of the United States and other like the Library of Alexandria, Egypt, Russia and Brazil.

 

The library will be available in the six official languages of the UN (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) as well as in Portuguese. The intention is to bring cultures and made available to all citizens of the world for free through Internet documents and texts of great cultural value.
