Glossary of bones of the extremities

Astragalus: this is the first bone of the ankle or tarsus. It is articulated at its top with the tibia and fibula and in the lower to escafoides.

 

Calcáneo: it is one of the bones at the bottom of the tarsus. Se corresponde con la zona del pie denominada talón. Corresponds to the area known as the heel of the foot.

 

Carpus: a set of bones that form the wrist. There are eight bones divided into two rows receiving the names of distal and proximal. The latter is closest to the forearm.

 

Clavícula: elongated bone located between the sternum, bone central trunk, and omoplato. o. There are two clavicles located on each side of the upper torso ranging from the shoulder to the neck area.

 

Cúbito: one of the two bones that make up the forearm, along with the radio. It extends from the elbow to wrist, reducing its thickness from one to another extreme.

 

Cuboides: it is one of the bones of the tarsus, which is known as the articulation ankle. Presents cube-shaped and is located on the outside.

Escafoides: bone of the proximal row carpal or wrist. It is one of the larger of this joint. In the tarsus or ankle there is another bone of the same name.

 

Escápula: bone on the back of the shoulder. The human body has two, located in the upper torso, coupled with the articulation of the shoulder and below the clavicle.

It is also the name of omoplato.

 

Femur: is the longest bone in the human body. At its top is articulated with coxales (hip) and the lower widens forming two or outgoing cóndilos that are articulated with patella.

 

Ganchoso: bone of hielera distal carpal or wrist. Es el último de la hielera, situado junto al hueso grande. It is the last of the hielera, located next to large bone.

Pisiforme: bone of the proximal carpal row, which is the articulation of the wrist. It is the latest in the row and is coordinated with the pyramid.

 

Phalange: each of the bones that form the fingers of the hand or foot. In each of them there are fourteen phalanges. All fingers are formed by three bones except for the thumb and big toe which have only two.

 

Phalange distal: is the last bone that form each of the finger or foot. In each hand or foot there are five distal phalanges.

 

Phalange average bone located between the proximal and distal phalanx, ie bone middle of each of the fingers of hands and feet. The thumbs and big toes of the feet do not have them.

 

Phalange proximal: is the first bone of each of the fingers or toes. They are the ones who are articulated with metacarpianos (hand) and metatarsianos (foot).

 

Radio: one of the two bones that make up the forearm, with the ulna. It is entering the joints of the wrist and elbow on the outside of the forearm.

 

Rótula: bone in the knee. At its top is articulated with the femur and the tibia below. It forms a very important articulation that gives legs capacity flexionarse.

 

Semilunar: bone of the proximal carpal row, ie bone of the wrist. It is organized with five bones, including two in the same row, and escafoides pyramid.

 

Tarsiano: a set of seven bones that make up the tarsus or ankle. Located on the top of each foot, as part of the ankle joint.

 

Tibia: it is one of the two bones of the leg, along with the fibula, located in the inner part. It extends from the knee to the ankle.

 

Trapeze: bone of the distal carpal row or wrist. It is situated between the first bone metacarpio (palms) and escafoides.

 

Trapezoide: bone of the distal carpal row. It is situated between the trapeze and big bone.
